CAMP SHALOM-WEEK 2 2017

Creating a Camp Family with Camp Shalom!

Camp Shalom had a great Week 2, starting with Monday’s Red, White, and Blue Day and then Wacky Sock Wednesday!  It’s been so much fun seeing our campers get creative with each dress up theme!

This week, campers focused on the middah (value) of Shalom Bayit, which means Peace in the Home.  As camp is our home away from home, we enjoyed thinking about how to create peace with our camp families.

In Ceramics, campers decorated clay hamsas (Palm of G-d), a symbol of peace.  Digi Photo explored the “watermelon dress,” a current trend on Instagram and a fun way to learn about perspective in photography.  At Games, our campers enjoyed the classic Bingo game, and our Master Chefs baked delicious challah.  Campers at Mad Science designed and created foil boats and had a friendly competition to see which boats held the most pennies without sinking.

Our first Late Stay of the summer will be on Wednesday, July 12 for Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.  It’s sure to be a fun evening!

We are looking forward to a great Week 3!
