The LITs had a great Seventh Week at camp!
On Monday and Tuesday, the LITs spent time with Rabbi Nathan learning about the ways Jewish camp helps to promote Jewish education and Jewish identity building. Then, each group spent time planning Shabbat activities for Camp Hilltop and Camp Shalom, which the LITs led on Friday. Great discussions were had about how camp educates in ways different from Hebrew School.
On Wednesday, the LITs traveled to Ocean City, where we all enjoyed a day of relaxation and sun. The LITs had a great time on the boardwalk, at the piers and on the beach.
Thursday, the LITs celebrated the completion of their Gesher Philanthropy Initiative Program. The LITs presented checks to both Jewish Federation for the Lotem Project in Israel and to Jewish Family
and Children’s Services for Project SARAH.
Also on Thursday, the LITs had their own color war. Everyone was split into three teams and given washable paint and water guns. It was great to watch all of them having fun and covered in paint!
As I mentioned, on Friday the LITs made Shabbat for all of Camp Hilltop and Camp Shalom. It was very moving to see our LITs perform a great Shabbat for the campers. We were all very impressed with the growth in our LITs this summer and how they showcased their leadership skills. It was truly beautiful to see.
