GESHER LIT’s Learning a Lot!
Our LITs had a great week of learning at Camp!
We began our week with a program called One Love, where the LITs discussed diversity through names we call ourselves and others. First, the LITs took part in a self reflection on names they may have called others and then a group discussion on how stereotypes of different groups and name calling affect us and others.
On Tuesday, we ran around camp for a fun period of camp-wide Capture The Flag. Although neither group won, the LITs had a great time hunting around camp for the Flags.
Wednesday, we switched our trip to Dave and Busters due to the stormy weather. We had such a fun day playing games and enjoyed a delicious lunch together!
Thursday and Friday, the LITs participated in Challah to Help. On Thursday, LITs volunteered to make many, many batches of Challah dough. We all had a great time getting elbow deep in dough kneading. On Friday, all of the LITs braided two challot, one to bring home (please enjoy) and one to sell at camp. The proceeds from the Challah to Help will go to the Gesher Philanthropy Initiative (GPI) to support the grants the LITs will award.
Additionally on Friday, the LITs finished writing their Mission Statement of GPI. Our Mission Statement will help the LITs decide how they wish to allocate their grant later this summer.
Next week, we will travel to Great Adventure and help at Carnival Day.
Shabbat Shalom and have a great weekend!
