Camp Hilltop is embracing this summer’s theme of “Protect and Remember.” This week focused on protecting Earth’s natural resources. Our Little Chefs created edible “gardens” which included marshmallow “trees” supported by pretzel “trunks”, in graham cracker “dirt” accompanied by gummy worms! The campers enjoyed hearing the PJ Library story, Netta and Her Plant, which poetically compares how plants and children grow together. Our Little Scientists learned to appreciate the intricate structures of plants by making really cool leaf rubbings. The Arts and Crafts projects had to do with the importance and beauty of ocean life, as the campers made watercolor/salt paintings of fish and other sea creatures. The kids also created rubber band art in the shape of starfish during Usable Art. Karate emphasized the “star block”, an important self-defensive tactic which helps us protect ourselves. In Music, we moved and grooved our little hearts out, singing songs that had to do with nature. In Nature, the kids are forging friendships with all of the amazing animals we have on site.
We smiled our biggest smiles for Picture day, which was this past Tuesday, and can’t wait to see how those photos turned out. We are looking forward to having our Shoresh and Geza/Elon Parents visit next week! The kids are eager to show their families how much fun they are having in all of the incredible activities!
