What a “sweet” ending to a truly amazing summer that went by way too fast! Week 8 was our Maccabiah Color War, where all of the campers were engaged in friendly competitions. Aligned with the theme of CANDY, we were psyched to play sports such as “Laffy Lacrosse,” and “Mouth-Watering Water Games.” In Little Chefs, each team built incredible, edible 3-D representations of their favorite camp activities using Twizzlers, Nestle Crunch bars, M&Ms and Laffy Taffy! Arts and Crafts played a life-sized Candyland challenge, and Usable Arts went on a fun scavenger hunt to find giant puzzle pieces that, when assembled, depicted a large graphic of all four team’s candies. Instead of experiments, our Little Scientists conducted relay races, and in Mmmusic Mashup, the kids reviewed the summer with trivia and other fun challenges that got everyone singing, moving and grooving! The campers also earned points for their teams by being super quiet during Tuesday’s Silent Lunch! Good sportsmanship and Ruach (spirit) saturated the Camp Hilltop fields and pavilions. It was a very close race, and everyone played hard and tried their best. We ended our week with divisional dance parties hosted by Rock-It Entertainment. Finally, we recited the Shabbat blessings one last time as a Hilltop Community, enjoying some delicious challah before heading off to the bus yard!
Thank you to all the wonderful campers, families, counselors and specialists for making this summer a fantastic one! We hope you have a terrific school year, and we look forward to seeing you next summer!
