Week 5 was Israel Week here at Camp Shalom and our campers really got into the Blue and White spirit!! Our Master Chefs had a little taste of Israel when they made homemade hummus and pita chips…delish!! In Digi Photo, campers used light sensitive paper to create blue and white nature prints and Israeli flags. Campers were astounded to see the plain white paper transform after being exposed to the sunlight! At Fishing, we learned about the coral reefs of Eilat, Israel, and then had the opportunity to try and catch our own “big one” in our camp lake! Our Haifa and Eilat campers had a blast at their Late Stay on Wednesday night, where we hung out with friends, played games, did arts & crafts and then enjoyed an awesome break dancing show with Illstyle & Peace. Israel Week concluded with more fun and games through an “Amazing Race,” Israel Edition. Campers “traveled” to Israel, and got to see how much fun an Israeli child’s birthday party is, then they helped “bring water” to the Negev desert by playing water games on our giant map of Israel, finally campers helped out an Israeli Bakery and then got to enjoy the fruits of their labors!! All in all, it was another great week at Camp Shalom, and we look forward to Ruach Week and our Jerusalem/Tel Aviv Late Stay next week (Thursday, August 6th). Please remember to log on to your Camp In Touch Portal and fill out the Late Stay permission slip (we need you to please fill this form out even if your camper will not be staying!!) Thanks and have a great weekend!!
