Gesher/LIT (age 14)

The JCC Camps at Medford Gesher/LIT (Leader In Training) Program is a summer program for teens entering 9th grade. This program is the bridge between being a full time camper and becoming a JCC Camps at Medford staff member. LIT incorporates leadership development, staff training, summer job placements and weekly trips while building lifelong relationships.
Leader In Training

Prior to the camp season, LITs request the area of camp that interests them the most for summer job placement. Each job opportunity creates a unique experience where participants learn and develop the necessary skills to become future JCC Camps at Medford staff members.

Programs include:

  • Bunk Placement
Assist counselors with groups of campers.
Choose the age groups you wish to work with.
  • Aquatics
Learn how to be a lifeguard and teach swimming.
  • Specialty Activity
Help to plan, set up, and teach an activity in your chosen area of interest.
Leadership Development

Experience a summer of learning at the Gesher/LIT program at JCC Camps at Medford. LIT’s participate in weekly leadership development trainings where they learn lifelong skills. Past programs include: Child Development, Behavior Management, Conflict Resolutions, Accepting Change, Group Dynamics, Kabbalat Shabbat Programs, The Power of Listening, Philanthropy and Social Justice, Diversity, Anti-Bullying, and Israel Advocacy.

Weekly Trips & Fun Activity Periods

Our Gesher/LIT participants are still considered campers. That means tons of fun enjoying weekly day trips at summer destinations in the Tri-State Area and activity periods designed just for them. Activities include: Phillies games, Dorney Park, Ocean City, NJ, Hurricane Harbor, Great Adventure, The JCC Camps at Medford High and Low Ropes Course, Lake Inflatables, Gaga Tournaments and much more!
