Gesher – Week 5

This week the LITs had a great Israel Week at camp!  We have traveled to the Kibbutz with our campers and learned about the animals they have, we have visited the army and participated in relay races and had a greatIsraeli music dance party.
Wednesday, we went to the Philadelphia Zoo and had our Scavenger Hunt. The LITs  had a lot of fun trying to beat the heat and win the Hunt. After the competition, the LITs had a great time wandering the Zoo looking for their favorite animals.
Thursday, we returned to the Neighborhood Center in Camden to help with their community garden. Our LITs were really able to make a difference.  They learned about the important work of the Neighborhood Center and the ways in which they help sustain the Camden Community.
Last Friday, the LITs selected the 3 finalists for our Gesher Philanthropy Initiative Grant, and this week at Shabbat, the LITs listened to presentations from the finalists’ organizations and asked questions. The LITs were very attentive and are excited to finalize the grant process next week.
Next week, the LITs will be working hard during Ruach week, helping with camp collections and 2 service projects.
Shabbat Shalom!
