GESHER LIT’s Learning a Lot!
The LITs had a great and spirited Ruach Week at camp!
Each day this week, the LITs were amazing at collecting all of the donations at the bus yard. We were all very appreciative of their hard work and spirit!
On Monday, the LITs participated in our third Day of Caring and Sharing Program. We spent several periods preparing, cooking, and packaging soup for the Seniors in need through JFCS.
Tuesday, all the LITs participated in our Leadership Training of the week, focusing on “Good Listening.” The LITs did a wonderful job of trying to listen to their teammates as all of the other teams were also shouting at each other to find all their team’s pieces. Afterwards, we had a strong discussion about listening.
On Wednesday, many of our LITs participated in our last Day of Caring and Sharing Program. The LITs visited the Neighborhood Center Urban Garden. At the Urban Garden, the LITs picked vegetables, discussed food scarcity, poverty, and food availability for our neighbors in Camden, and helped to clean up the urban garden. This trip was fabulous; the kids learned and did a lot.
This week, our trip was on Thursday. We had a great time at the Phillies game with Coolanu and Chaverim cheering for the Phils!
On Friday, the LITs worked hard to select the 2015 Gesher Philanthropy Initiative Grant Recipient. The LITs listened to each other’s opinions, discussed what they heard during the site visits and ultimately chose one grant as the awardee. We will be announcing our recipient next week.
Next week, the LITs will be planning a Shabbat activity for Hilltop and Shalom divisions and going to Ocean City on Wednesday.
