Health and Nutrition

We are committed to providing every camper at the JCC Camps at Medford with the nutrition they need to fuel their bodies all day long, while also providing accommodations for campers who have dietary restrictions. We also train all of our camp staff to ensure they keep every camper safe, HYDRATED and HEALTHY!
Lunch Options

The JCC Camps at Medford serves a kosher lunch each day. Our lunch menu is designed to appeal to even the pickiest eaters.

We have a varied menu with plenty of alternatives which include bagels, Wow butter, jelly, butter, cream cheese, dry cereal, yogurt, tuna and more. A fresh fruit and vegetable is served each day with lunch. Campers also receive a snack and ice cream or ice pop during the day.

Specific Dietary Needs

Because many of our campers have peanut and tree nut allergies, the JCC Camps at Medford is a peanut and tree nut aware facility. We do not serve peanut butter or any products made with nuts. We request that families do not send any of these products with their campers for snack on the bus. We also serve a gluten-free option for each of our lunch menu items. Additionally, we accommodate numerous other food allergies and dietary restrictions. Our Health Center works closely with our Kitchen Director to accommodate these needs.

Dedicated Health Center

The JCC Camps at Medford’s commitment to the health and safety of our campers is unsurpassed. We have a beautiful, air-conditioned Health Center with a triage area, two private bathrooms, a room dedicated to our campers with diabetes, and a space for cots.

Our dedicated team of registered nurses is supervised by our Health Center Director. These experienced medical professionals are prepared to respond to injuries and illnesses. They are a great source of comfort when needed. We aim to accommodate any individual medical needs, and our nursing team will administer any required daily medications.

You must have a physician sign off on our Medication Authorization Form for any medication to be administered at camp. This form can be found in your Camp Portal.

Balanced Schedule

The best way to ensure that all JCC Camps at Medford campers have a great summer is by keeping them healthy. We love that camp provides an opportunity for campers to get fresh air and be active through all of our amazing recreational activities. Campers’ schedules have a mixture of active and sedentary specialties throughout the day to provide a balance between activity and rest.

It is so important to us that campers have the chance to disconnect while at the JCC Camps at Medford. They explore nature, try out new and exciting activities, and learn new skills, all while being off of their cell phones, tablets, and televisions.

Safety First

We train our counselors and specialists to monitor that campers are drinking plenty of water to stay hydrated and that sunscreen is being reapplied throughout the day. We have more than 50 hydration stations throughout camp to ensure that everyone is keeping cool and hydrated.
