2018 – Gesher – Week 7

GESHER LIT’s GET GOING!

The LITs had a great seventh week at camp!

This week, our Social Justice Corps groups continued to present their summer long projects.  On Monday, we learned about the Wounded Warrior Project and participated in simulation activities to better understand the struggles of individuals wounded in action.

Tuesday, the LITs tried to beat the heat.  We spent a fun LIT-only period down at the lake and bounced around on all the inflatables.

Wednesday, the LITs trekked up to Great Adventure and had a thrilling day on the rides. The LITs were happy to have a long day at the park and also eat dinner there.

Friday, the final Social Justice Corps groups presented.  One of our groups educated their peers about childhood cancer and then we made “Boxes of Joy” to donate to children in the hospital.  The boxes included a number of activities to brighten a child’s day.  Our final group presented about Kindness and the effect it can have on those around you.  The LITs then made Kindness cards to distribute to campers and staff in need of some encouragement.

Next week, the LITs will be traveling to Ocean City and cheering their bunks on during Color War for our final week together.
