2018 – Camp Hilltop – Week 7
Hilltop Happenings
Camp Hilltop painted the camp red this week!
This week we celebrated the city of Tzfat. Tzfat is home to some of the oldest synagogues that are still used today, many of which are filled with Kabbalistic art and symbols. There is also a large artist colony in Tzfat, and it is home to many storytellers and musicians. Each activity focused on mindfulness, storytelling, art, and meditation.
In Little Chefs, Laurie and Jacob represented the art of Tzfat by creating a beautiful rainbow cake masterpiece. They created all the colors of the rainbow by using vanilla cake and mixed their own yummy vanilla frosting. It was delicious! In Dance, Rachel and Cara brought storytelling to life through the art of dance! The kids told their own story about what makes them happy. In Little Scientists, Brooke and Michael talked about all the awesome things we can do by mixing colors, how we can create new colors and what the absence of color means. In Gymnastics, Nia practiced mindfulness and mediation to really celebrate the spirit of Tzfat.
It is fitting that this week is about Tzfat because we typically call Week 7 “Art Week.” On Thursday night, our Hilltop campers performed, “When You Believe!” They were amazing! Shira and Antony did a wonderful job preparing them for this fantastic show. Also, through the month of August you can get a glimpse of how talented the kids in our camp really are as you take a tour of the JCC Camps at Medford art show which premiered this week…that’s why we call it Art Week!
