GESHER LIT’s GET GOING!

By JCC Camps at Medford

Week 2 of camp is already past us and our LITs have been having a great time. LITs spent the first half of the week working with their bunks and specialty areas learning the ins and outs of being a counselor or specialist. We are in the full swing of things, and we have been putting our Week 1 training to good use in handling camper behaviors, running rainy day activities and more!

This week we were joined by Lisa Rosenberg who ran a mental health/suicide prevention workshop, teaching our LITs about the importance of speaking up when their friends are going through a hard time and how to recognize when it’s time to do so. We also started a Tzedakah project where each L.I.T decorated a Tzedakah box to collect money to support the construction of Ravi’s Bimah here at camp in memory of an outstanding young staff member who we lost this year.

In addition to our leadership training and community service project, we had a full day full of camp activities like ropes, swimming, gaga, Newcombe and more! We’re looking forward to Monday’s super fun surprise as we have an awesome outside vendor coming to camp to bring a fun and unique experience to our LITs!

We can’t wait to see what else Week 3 has in store for us!
