Creating a Camp Family with Camp Shalom! Week 4

Camp Shalom had a fantastic Week 4! Our weekly camp theme explored the character traits of speed and compassion, while learning about the Flash and Olympian Mark Spitz. We can’t believe that we have reached the halfway point of this camp season!

Campers got to paint with watercolors in Arts & Crafts, while a lighting-inspired tea light project was created at Usable Art using plastic cups and colored tissue paper. Campers learned about chromatography at Mad Science using coffee filters and markers to see how different ink dyes travel at different rates up the filter. At Nature, campers learned about water by exploring the lake and seeing the animals and insects that live in or near the water. What a great way to honor Olympic swimmer, Mark Spitz! At Music, campers had a blast playing vocal games and freeze dance. Superhero poses and positive meditation were part of the fun at Yoga. Our campers also had fun at Sports while always trying to practice good sportsmanship.

Week 4 was also Appreciation Week! Campers participated in a variety of appreciation activities, including camp clean-up to show appreciation for nature. Campers enjoyed a special treat when Mr. Softee came to visit!

Next week, we are looking forward to Israel Week! We can’t wait for Week 5!
