Camp Hilltop week 4 2019
Hilltop Happenings
Camp Hilltop stopped to smell the “fruit trees” this week!
It may have been hot, but that did not stop Hilltop from having a blast. We had a water filled, luau-themed carnival day on Wednesday. The kids had a ball on the palm tree inflatable slip-n-slide, and they danced the day away during the Elon sprinkler dance party. Make sure to check out our app for all the pictures. Our photographer, Brooke, spends her days catching all of kids having the time of their lives in camp and uploads it directly to the app for you to see.
Tu Bishvat was the HOT topic this week! Tu Bishvat or the “birthday” of all fruit trees, is a festival that helped Jewish farmers establish exactly when they should bring their produce of fruit from the trees to the Temple. Week 4 was abuzz with how we can create our own fertile agriculture here at camp. Our specialists celebrated trees in a big way this week with some amazing activities! In Usable Arts, Stephanie and Sierra had the campers create artistic leaf bowls using air-dry clay. Our Little Scientists examined the importance of recycling and how it helps our world when we care about the environment around us. Our Little Chefs worked with the land by using fresh blueberries, strawberries, and other fruits from a tree to make delicious fruit salad. The fun didn’t stop there. Camp Hilltop made the forests proud by working with the land at Nature, Campers Take the Stage, Usable Arts, and all the Camp Hilltop sports.
