Camp Hilltop – Week 6 – 2019

Hilltop Happenings

Camp Hilltop lends a helping hand this week!

This week’s theme was Purim. Purim is a joyous holiday that recounts the saving of the Jewish people. The holiday is traditionally celebrated with joyous abandon and with the giving of gifts to friends and the poor. Because of these gifts to the poor, as well as, the custom of wearing costumes on Purim, it is the perfect week for RUACH WEEK!

Ruach Week is not just about dressing up but also about helping those in need, and remembering that it is our duty to help repair the world. Our specialists helped the campers come up with ways to help others this week with some amazing activities! In Usable Arts, to show gemilut chasadim or acts of loving kindness, campers created Rice Sock Bunnies that we will donate to Samaritan House. They poured rice into a sock and then shaped them into bunnies. Campers then decorated their bunnies with fabric markers. In dance, Lilah helped the campers color animal masks and then they practiced dancing like their animals. Arts & Crafts had our Hilltoppers create super fun and loud tambourine groggers. All-in-all, we let camp know that Hilltop is definitely the place to be!

Thank you for all the families who came out to the International Skate Center on Monday night. Our campers had a blast skating and climbing the big indoor jungle gym. Also, our Hilltop campers really brought their spirit by dressing for pirates, team spirit, neon, decade, and camp pride days! Hilltop is always the place to be because everyone is filled with Ruach!

Next week is a very busy week! On Thursday, we have our own performance. Please join our little Hilltop performers at the Katz JCC in Cherry Hill for “A Day at my Happy Place!” The show will start at 7:00pm. Doors open at 6:45pm. For those who are participating in the show, please look out for an email with directions about drop-off times at the JCC in Cherry Hill on Thursday.
