Camp Hilltop – Week 7, 2019

Hilltop Happenings

Camp Hilltop painted the camp red this week! — Red Sea, that is!

This week we celebrated the holiday of Passover. Passover, or Pesach in Hebrew, is one of the three major pilgrimage festivals of ancient Israel
and commemorates the Exodus, leading the Israelites out from slavery in Egypt to freedom. Its name comes from the miracle in which God “passed over” the houses of the Israelites during the tenth plague.

During Passover, a number of symbolic foods are laid out on the table, of which the most important is the matzah. In Little Chefs, Laurie and Hailey introduced the kids to great ways to dress up matzah by using butter, brown sugar, and different types of chocolate to create a yummy Passover dessert. In Dance, Lilah created Hilltop’s very own Red Sea for our campers to part. In Yoga, Jodi practiced mindfulness and mediation, as well as, showing the kids how do their “shal-ommmm” breathing.

On Thursday night, our Hilltop campers performed, “A Day at my Happy Place!” They were amazing! Eileen and Antony did a wonderful job preparing them for this fantastic show. Thank you to all the parents and families who joined us for this wonderful show.
