Camp Shalom – Week 5 – 2019

Creating a Camp Family with Camp Shalom!

It was another great week in Camp Shalom!

We celebrated Israel Week with lots of fun and spirit! We honored the Jewish homeland by celebrating all things Israel.

In Arts & Crafts, campers made Star of David wall hangings. Campers photographed themselves with special Israel Week photo frames in Digi Photo. Campers at Master Chef baked yummy blue velvet cupcakes with white icing to represent the colors of the Israeli flag. In Ceramics, campers learned about Israeli artists and made sculptures in the style of those artists. To honor Israel’s space program’s attempted moon landing this year, campers at Mad Science built and launched their very own rockets! Campers enjoyed visiting the animals at Nature and exploring the hiking trails around camp. At Usable Art, campers created Israeli flag paper windsocks. Campers also love participating in all of our fun sport activities, learning about good sportsmanship and teamwork.

On Wednesday, Camp Shalom celebrated Israel Day. Our Shlichot (Israeli Emissaries), along with community Shaliach Arkady Hasidovich, led a day of special activities, including army-style games, lots of music and dancing, water games, crafts and more!

Our Haifa & Eilat campers enjoyed their Late Stay, having extra time at camp. We can’t wait for Masada & Dimona’s Late Stay next week on Wednesday, July 31st! If you have not already done so, please log into your Camp InTouch portal to complete your permission form.

Our campers that take Theater Club have been working very hard all summer to prepare for the Camp Shalom Show! Please save the date – Wednesday, August 7th – and join us at 7pm at the Katz JCC in Cherry Hill for our production of High School Musical Jr.

We are looking forward to more fun next week!
