Camp Shalom – Week 7, 2019

By JCC Camps at Medford

Creating a Camp Family with Camp Shalom!

Week 7 was wonderful! Our theme this week was Passover, one of three major pilgrimage festivals of ancient Israel. Passover, or Pesach in Hebrew, commemorates the Exodus, leading the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt to freedom.

In Arts & Crafts campers created their own personalized matzah covers. Campers at Digi Photo created beautiful snow globes, hail being one of the Ten Plagues in the Passover story. Kiddush cups were created at Usable Art using simple objects. At Yoga, campers participated in a unique Passover dinner-themed yoga class , coming up with poses that represent foods eaten at the Passover seder. Campers at Master Chef Jr. baked delicious Passover brownies. Because campers were asking all summer, they were finally able to make slime at Mad Science! At Nature, campers have enjoyed seeing what is growing in the garden, interacting with the animals, and hiking on the trails. Our campers continue to learn about good sportsmanship at sports.

Our Theater performers were fantastic in this year’s Camp Shalom Show! We are so proud of their performance in High School Musical Jr. The show was enhanced by the fabulous scenery and props created by campers in Set Production clubs.

We are so excited for next week with the start of Maccabiah Color War and look forward to seeing lots of spirit!
