Camp Hilltop 2019 Week 2

Hilltop Happenings

It may be hot out, but that did not stop Camp Hilltop from having a great time!  This week we focused on the holiday of Sukkot.  Sukkot is named after the booths or huts (sukkot in Hebrew) Jews build for this holiday.  It also celebrates the fall harvest season. In Little Chefs, the campers learned about some of the fall fruits and vegetables that we eat during Sukkot and enjoyed a sweet treat, pumpkin chocolate chip muffins.

Our campers practiced engineering in Little Scientists by creating their own sukkot using gumdrops and toothpicks.  They tried different formations to see which was strongest.  In Blacktop games, Allison created an awesome obstacle course with hoola hoops and other creative materials. Everyone played with parachutes to keep cool.  Our wonderful specialists at Usable Arts will be doing a charity project Week 6. Please send in new unused socks with your campers so that we will have enough for our project.  Our division heads will collect them in the morning at bunk time.

Next week, we have a special treat!  We will have the Israeli Scouts coming to camp on Tuesday to perform two different exciting shows for us!  Also, remember to pre-order your pictures before Sunday, July 7th.
