Creating a Camp Family with Camp Shalom

By JCC Camps at Medford

Camp Shalom had a great Week 5 celebrating Israel Week!  We honored the Jewish homeland by celebrating Israel’s rich history and culture.

Campers in Ceramics created clay bowls, enhanced with Stars of David or the State of Israel designs.  Special blue and white paper was used in Digi Photo to represent Israel, while campers enjoyed an obstacle course at Games.  At Master Chef, campers made popcorn balls with blue sprinkles and white chocolate chips to make a delicious blue and white treat!  Campers at Mad Science explored bubbles using a variety of materials to make different sized bubbles.  Colorful wind chimes were crafted at Usable Art using a Star of David as the base.

Thursday was Israel Day in Camp Shalom and everyone had an amazing time!  Campers followed a special schedule for the day, planned by our wonderful Shlichot (emissaries from Israel), Sharon and Orel.  The day included an Israeli army-style obstacle course, pita-making in a Bedouin tent, and Capture the Flag.

On Wednesday evening, Haifa and Eilat campers had a blast at their Late Stay!  After extra sports time and dinner, the campers were treated to a show with the Jabali African acrobats.

We can’t for Week 6 – Ruach (Spirit) Week!

Wednesday, August 2 – Masada/Dimona Late Stay – please log onto your Camp In Touch portal to complete the parent permission form, if you have not already done so.
