GESHER – WEEK 2 2017

GESHER LIT’s GET GOING!

This week our LITs have had a great week bonding with their bunks and learning about teamwork at our LIT programs!

On Monday, the LITs participated in our first Day of Caring and Sharing (DOCAS)!  The LITs worked together to make paracord survival bracelets.  These bracelets (that you may have seen your LIT working on at home), are made of survival materials that can hold up to 550lbs.  The LITs were very focused on learning how to make the bracelets that we will be sending to our troops overseas.  The LITs have already completed over 50 bracelets and keep asking for more materials.

Wednesday, we traveled to Ocean City, NJ. The LITs had a great day, walking on the boardwalk, laying out on the beach and playing in the waves.  On Thursday, we came together for our third session of the Gesher Philanthropy Initiative in which the LITs purchased the Jewish values that were meaningful to them and began to write the mission statement of our philanthropy fund. It was exciting to watch the LITs choose which values are important to them.

We ended our week with Shabbat and working together at Ropes.  We spent the period teambuilding and discovering how being a part of a team can help them in their bunk, pool and specialty responsibilities.

Next week, we will travel to Hurricane Harbor, learn about accepting others, and bake challah together as a community.

Shabbat Shalom and have a great weekend!

B’Shalom,
