Lenny Krayzelburg Swim Academy -week 1 2018

Lenny Krayzelburg Swim Academy at the JCC Camps at Medford

Instructional swim has begun, and we are off to a great start! Campers have received their swim caps and have officially been placed in their first swim groups for the summer! New campers were evaluated for the first time and return campers were placed in groups corresponding to the levels they ended on last summer.

At the JCC Camps at Medford, we teach the Lenny Krayzelbug Swim Academy (LKSA) which teaches the “Swim Right” method and was created by 4-time Olympic Gold Medalist Lenny Krayzelburg. The method, which progresses through eight levels, teaches water safety first and then proper technique, with an initial emphasis on swimmers being water safe. We teach all of our campers to instinctually roll to their back float as a means for water safety.

Over the next 7 weeks your campers will be working hard with their instructors to be water safe and to refine their strokes. Beginning at the end of Week 2, all campers in Camp Hilltop and Shalom will receive a weekly swim messenger, which will track their progress through the swim program.
Lenny and his staff are always looking for ways to improve and over this past year have made a few changes that we’ve officially brought to Medford this summer. Last year we introduced the Rollers (light blue) level. This level still exists but some of the skills have changed and it now falls before the Streamliners (white) level. Skills were also added in the other seven levels all meant to enhance and assure water safety as the number one priority and improve stroke development.
We are super excited to have your camper at the JCC Camps at Medford and even more excited that we have the opportunity to provide them with the lifelong skill of being safe in and around the water.
